taiyo & kouka no shizuku

We've been trying different plums lately...

This one is called Taiyo (which means sun) and was grown in Yamanashi prefecture.

So so sour!


This one is called Kouka no Shizuku and the name is a combination of meanings taken from the chinese characters used to write the name..."deep red", "fragrance", "droplet"

This plum was grown in Aomori prefecture.

So so red!

Not too sweet but definitely sweeter than Taiyo.

I'm glad we got to try both varieties.

LOL, I Like plums but rarely buy because just thinking of getting sour ones....eeeeeek.
Would it have helped to keep them out until they ripened or softened? Usually gets sweeter.

Still in love with sugar kiss melons in season now. So sweet and juicy, very close to yubari melons. And envy apples! My cuz has a theory that the US envy apples are out of season now so they are not as crisp so should look for NZ envy since it is their season now. I think she's on to something because last few I bought were not crisp.

Black Magic grapes! I don't want to say that I'm sick of them, but we had a very good harvest this year and I don't know what else to do with them besides eating (already made jam and pancake syrup).

Rowena wonder if you could dry/dehydrate them to make raisins?! would go nice with wine and you could bake with them too:)

I'd love to but they aren't seedless; good thing they keep pretty well in the fridge (in a package) though.
