The reason this post is titled “saborecipe” is because they use this word in Japanese
“Sabo” is shortened from “saboru” or “play hooky”, literally “play hooky from cooking”
Here’s the recipe if you want to try :1 serving : Suntory Kinmugi
5 shrimp, boiled
tenkasu (bits from tempura)
1 serving rice
1tablespoon mentsuyu (sauce for noodles)
1 tablespoon mayo
aonori (green laver)
Mix 1/2 teaspoon of mentsuyu with 1 tablespoon of mayo and tenkasu, put in the boiled shrimp and mix well
Drizzle 2.5 teaspoons mentsuyu on rice
Top with aonori and more tenkasu
NOTES: I didn’t use boiled shrimp, I pan fried with a little oil
I thought just shrimp was kinda not enough so I also pan fried some onion and maitake
I don’t have mentsuyu so I used dashi shoyu instead
I drizzled 1 teaspoon onto my rice
I mixed the 1/2 teaspoon dashi shoyu with 1 tablespoon mayo then threw in the cooked shrimp, maitake and onion, sprinkled in some tenkasu and mixed it well
I poured the concoction onto my rice and topped it with a little juilienned shiso and also added some furikake because I didn’t have aonori
I also sprinkled a little more tenkasu
The tenkasu gets soggy fast so eat this right away
Not really tendon flavors, probably because I used dashi shoyu?, but I’m glad I tried this recipe even if I didn’t totally “play hooky” from cooking
I recently made a batch of granola and this was the jar I kept it in
“Someone” was working at home, papers and computer all over the dining table
When I checked on him, I should’ve moved it, but thought it would be okay
I was wrong, what a waste of food!
And I’m sad because I don’t like to waste food
At least he wasn’t hurt
No IG, Facebook, Google, Amazon, Target, Walmart..support small businesses, pay with cash...
You don't realize what sites are Google (like this blog) until you try to boycott using it...
Anyway, we were trying to support a small business but the line for lunch was long and right when it was our turn to enter, they announced they had sold out...sigh
Since we were kinda hangry, we went right across the street to Yoshinoya, which is not a small business, but I believe is still a Japanese company...
I think it was my 1st time eating here (I think we took out during the pandemic).
I was interested in this Roka curry. These photos were taken at the Tokyo Marathon & Akihabara
Tokyo Furry People: waiting for the marathon runners to pass
Tokyo People: watching the blocked off roads for the marathonAnd they released two musubi as part of the campaign.
The one I tried is similar to the one on the right of the picture, this time though they changed it a little adding bonito to the original tuna, mayo & konbu...will try this one soon…258 yen (tax included)
I was more excited to try the one on the left because it is supposed to resemble the musubi from Bongo, which we've been to in the past and also have tried making at home.I had forgotten that they were holding the Tokyo Marathon...which means, no can cross the large street near JR Akihabara station!
But the other day, I was standing in line at the post office and noticed these foodie stamps.
This version was Osaka's foods...
These are for postcards.
