moderation, moderation
According to an article I read on Delicious Days, the cinnamon in Lebkuchen can damage your liver, so you should watch the amount you eat at each sitting.
When I was growing up, my mom would always limit my brother and my treats to "2"--two cookies or two pieces of candy. Of course, now that we live apart, I have no one to "police" the amount I eat--that is both good and bad.
Anything in excess is usually a bad thing...moderation, moderation...sigh.
Have a nice weekend!
Do they say why it would damage the liver? Have a nice weekend too, and yes moderation is always the key!
ReplyDeleteSorry, I read the article wrong, Bea! It is not cinnamon, it is the aromatic spice cumarin that can cause the damage.
ReplyDeleteYou have a nice weekend, too!
Kat
Sorry for the confusion, Bea, I re-read the article it IS a toxic part of cinnamon that causes the damage.
ReplyDeleteYikes, I love cinnamon.
ReplyDeleteMe too Peabody! Hopefully they'll find that it isn't toxic. Until then, moderation! ;)
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Kat
That's a bit scary kat.
ReplyDeleteIt is scary, Barbara.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by.
