bacon+chocolate=yum?...!
I first learned about this bar from Chocolate Obsession and then Sourdough Monkey Wrangler tried it.
I made note of it and found it at the Honolulu Chocolate Company, so I picked it up. Kind of a weird combination, right? maybe. It is a 41% deep milk chocolate, with smoked salt and bacon bits.
But, if you're like me, you sometimes crave, sweet and salty things at certain times of the month (too much information? maybe), this is definitely something to soothe those cravings.
As soon as it hit my tongue, I could taste the smoked salt, then the milk chocolate and then some of the bacon. And then I had to put the bar away for fear of eating the whole thing in one sitting.
I liked it. If you get a chance, you should try it.
I'd heard of this chocolate bar before and was curious. Sweet and salty does go very well together so it probably is good.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to give this bar a try! I finally saw it in a store here and it was so ridiculously priced I couldn't bring myself to buy it...
ReplyDeleteI hope you get a chance to try it Julie!
ReplyDeleteYes, Brilynn, it was quite expensive, but worth trying :)
Take care you two.

mmmm, it is SOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo GOOD!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of chocolate covered ika...but much better. I think I would like this a lot!
ReplyDeleteI know, Janet, I know :)
ReplyDeleteOMG I just saw the "Girl meets Hawaii" episode which she finds and eats the chocolate covered ika at BIC, Lori, hilarious. I think I may have to make my own version of this to try.... :)
Take care you two.

I have really been wanting to try this bar too! I hear it is awesome!
ReplyDeletehey kat...great find! i first saw this a few months ago when some co-workers and i were planning a bacon-themed potluck. some other things we found were bacon-flavored salt and bacon-flavored coffee.
ReplyDeletebut the best thing is that one of my students actually made some chocolate-covered bacon for me. the chocolate was actually a bit too thick, thus the bacon/chocolate ratio was off...and, it should be more milk chocolate than the semi-sweet he used. still, had to give him an A for effort!!
I hope you get to try it, Jenndz, you may become hooked :)
ReplyDeleteWow Grant homemade bacon & chocolate. I may have to give it a try...
Take care you two!
Kat
I amazed that someone didn't add wasabi yet to the recipe.
ReplyDeleteThere is a bar with wasabi, ginger and other spices made by Vosges called "Black Pearl", RONW, though adding it to bacon and chocolate may be interesting :)
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Kat
I heard about this awhile back too on FoodHoe's site. Sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna try re-creating this when I get home (Japan), Rowena :)
ReplyDeleteTake care.

Ahhhh, yes. The bacon chocolate bar. I seem to remember being quite fond of it, but it also helped tremendously that it was free AND I was medicated on vicodin from a root canal.........
ReplyDeleteStill, I'd eat another.
didn't realize you were on "drugs" when you wrote that post, MW! :)
ReplyDeleteTake care.
