I planted this tomato yesterday. The others from the same vine were so sweet. I hope to show you some tomatoes this summer. (Plus, they were so cute, they reminded me of hearts.)
Last night, I made the dressing part of the gobo salad recipe, used fresh peas, which I boiled until tender and combined it with the "fried gobo". It was really good. UPDATE: the combination was even better with bits of crispy bacon added to it this morning....
Can someone tell me the portions to make vietnamese coffee? The directions in the package said to put a tablespoon of coffee and screw the top on.
Pour some water in, then loosen the top. Please tell me how to do this without burning my fingers? I've been using a piece of paper towel as an oven mitt...

ReplyDeleteKat, regarding the planting of the tomato, do you mean to say that you just stuck it into the ground? Or you scooped out the seeds? I've heard of the latter method, but logic dictates that a tomato in/on the ground should grow anyway because the plant at my dad's always had a few loose ones falling into the soil, only to rebirth themselves much later. His cherry tomato vine(s) were expansive!
ReplyDeleteHey Kat - The Missus enjoys her Vietnamese Coffee - but uses way more than a tablespoon of coffee, and a bit more water too...first you're supposed to only fill the the contraption only 1/4 way, wait 20 seconds.Than check and loosen...than fill it up. You may still burn your fingers though!
ReplyDeleteoooh..I forgot to add -- the potato kinpira was so delicious! I'm making it again today. I could barely wait until they were done before popping them into my mouth. Heehee...even ate most of my husband's share.

I really like gobo salad. I confess that I buy it pre-prepared from a local market. I like to add it to my own lettuce and veggie salad.

Being Viet myself, what I was taught was to use the lid to loosen the top. Notice the handle of the lid that sticks out? Stick that part into the small slit in the filter part and rotate (as you would a coin i guess). Hope this makes sense!

At one time a wild corner of my yard at home (maybe 200 square feet) was covered with cherry tomato plants. Obviously it was from tomatoes dropping and then growing. Got tired of the tomatoes after a while.
