Awhile back, I bought this package of Hello Kitty cheese. There were 4 to a package and all the shapes were different. When I saw how sturdy the plastic molds were, I wanted to try making molded chocolates in them.
So, after I ate the cheese, I washed the molds out and kept them on the side. I finally got around to trying the molds out on Saturday. I melted some of my dark chocolates, mostly of the 65% range, some with nibs, and added a little milk.
The one that came out the best was the mold of Hello Kitty's head. (I guess I was so excited to eat it that my picture came out blurry.)
The other molds apparently had air bubbles in it, so, the Hello Kitties came out kind of scary looking.
I'll probably try this again...soon.
I think if you gently tap the molds on the counter after you fill them with melted chocolate, you should eliminate the air bubbles.

A couple of us were talking about Hello Kitty and all the products...never thought there'd be cheese though.

ReplyDeleteBtw, about the "e.d." commercial, I haven't seen that one but I can only imagine what e.d. signifies without even googling for an answer. I dunno, do they have these types of infomercials in Japan? I don't see them in Italy as the men don't seem to have much problem with being uhm, male.

Great idea to reuse the molds! In intermediate school I used to make little chocolates in similar molds. That tapping on the counter thing works well.

ReplyDeletehello. I just wanted to say that I do the same thing. With the candy molds that is. I will post some pictures of my candies. when you are pouring the chocolate in the molds, tap the trays along the edges and wiggle the trays a litte. You will see the air bubbles come up and pop. So then the bubbles wont be on the face of the mold, they will be on the back side. Just a word. :)
