Shar saw this Kyoto sweet on this blog, and when we went to Kyoto awhile back, we checked out Nijo Wakasaya.
Furo-sen is a powdered sweet. When hot water is added, puffed mochi birds and mochi bits appear.
They have 3 flavors, matcha (green tea), adzuki (sweet bean) & kudzu.
Kudzu was the thickest and sweetest, there aren't any mochi bits or birds that pop out from this one, but it is still a great treat. My favorite would have to be the adzuki as it reminded me of shiruko.
These are perfect for a chilly night when you want something sweet and something warm.
I would also like to send these warm treats to my blog friend, Barbara. She is going through chemo treatments now and her friends, Bron and Ilva have organized sending virtual hugs to her. Thinking of you and praying for you, Barbara!
