bye-bye kitty

I hate it when I bang up my own dishes...I was recently washing my Hello Kitty plate and hit it against the faucet. Most dishes I have are tough, but I guess this one was thinner. I am stubborn and won't throw this out until it really cracks...

Let's end this post on a happy note...here are the chocolates/cakes that Satoshi received from his co-workers for Valentine's.

one was even called "mahalo" which means thank you in Hawaiian.

So what is Satoshi giving back to his co-workers on White Day? Find out on March 14, I'm baking...cross your fingers it works out...

  1. It's always sad to chip a favourite dish. Recently the shelf of our crockery cupboard fell and I lost heaps of favourite dishes as they smashed to the floor.

  2. Oh no Barbara, that is so sad! I hope you didn't lose too many of your favorites.

    Take care.

  3. I hate losing a favorite dish, too! A lot of my dishes have little nicks around the edges and, as long as they're safe to us, I continue using them because I like them so much.

Satoshi certainly got some nice gifts! Do co-workers give each other presents on Valentine's Day in Japan? And what is White Day? I have a hard time keeping track of gift-giving so I'm afraid I wouldn't do well there....

Valentine's Day in Japan is when the girls give the guys something. Then on March 14,White Day, is when the guys give the girls something.

  6. I bought this plate in Hawaii Shar, so I don't think I could find an exact replacement here, but I may have a look the next time I am near one.

  7. Sorry about your plate. The chip doesn't look too bad.

    Your chocolate looks delicious!

I've never heard of White Day? I suppose you'll tell us more about it. Can't wait to see what you make for that day.

  11. I have the dish tucked away so that I won't use it, hoping that I won't bang it again and have to really throw it out, Rowena :p

  12. Poor Kitty chan! I know that hurts both of you - you and Kitty. Can't wait to see the baking for White Day. Hubby's company didn't do VDay this year so I don't have to worry about White Day. Woo-hoo!
