pizza delivery

It has been a couple of years since we've ordered pizza (it is expensive). But I thought you may be interested in seeing how they are delivered...well, sort of, I only have photos of the vehicles.

The pizza guys zoom around on these three wheeled mopeds, most have these heated cubicles on the back for the pizza.

At Christmas time, they dress in santa suits (I really want a photo of this!!)

Some of the more recent models have a roof and winshield. I also noticed that the Domino mopeds have a warming cubicle on the front of their mopeds too, which are apparently used to hold their helmets when they are not on delivery.

Are there interesting delivery vehicles where you live?

  1. Not as interesting as those machines! They put a lighted sign on the top of vehicles and that is about it. I hope you'll get a picture of the Santa Pizzaman, lol.

  2. Those mopeds look neat....cute. How much does a pizza cost in where you're at?

  3. Thanks Lynne, I hope so too :)

Thanks Kirkk, medium pizzas range from $19-$26 and large from $30-40.

    Take care you two.

  4. Love those vehicles! A lot of pizza delivery people in our area just drive their own cars, so there's nothing to look at.

I'm amazed that pizza is so expensive in Japan. In the U.S. pizza places offer so many coupons/promotions that you could eat it every night. However, much of it is mediocre stuff, so I'm not sure I'd want to.

Is the quality of delivery pizza higher in Japan? I'm willing to bet that it is?

  5. Japan has seafood, corn, mayo as toppings, not sure if that would qualify as higher quality but they are different, Jenster :) (They also have pepperoni, sausage too.)

    Take care.

  6. The corn and mayo on the pizza there always threw me a bit--I'll take the sausage! ;-)

  7. LOL it did that to me too, Deb :) I used to always order a pizza with Italian sausage on it because I could never find the sausages in the stores.

    Take care.

  8. The pizza guys around here zip along on mopeds and cars. We've never gotten delivery service only because we live about a 100 yards from a pizzeria.

A question on the price: how much is pizza anyway? On average we pay about 5 euros for pizza margherita (tomato sauce and mozzarella), upwards to 6-7 euros for the rest with more than 2 toppings. At two pizzas (12-13" diameter), our bill always totals around 13 euros, more or less.

  9. Holy Polenta that is close by Rowena! A medium pizza runs about $19-$26 and the large about $30-$40. I'm sure you could make a good pie from scratch :)

    Take care.

  17. On base we can get Anthony's Pizza. Just like back in the U.S. I do find Japan toppings a bit odd.

    Take care.
