I actually found out about the Word of the Day (WOTD) from Carol's blog.
I then signed up for their French Word of the Day to be sent to my RSS reader. (Thanks!)
Then Rowena, gave me the heads-up that the company had added Japanese! so I quickly added it to the side bar. (Thanks!)
If you want to learn a new language (but maybe not ready to pay for lessons), this is a great way. They have many other languages, so check them out!
UPDATE: it is no longer a free site.
Somebody should come up with one for pidgin english -- I'd be the first one to put in on my blog!
ReplyDeleteRowena,
ReplyDeleteThat would be cool!
Take care.

I had a look on the site and it seems you can download free Japanese phrase. The Word of day looks interesting when the BBC channel was doing their Japanese season, they included a word of the day.
ReplyDeleteHere is one of them: へそで茶を沸かす
Heso de cha o wakasu
means I'm boiling tea through my navel refers to a joke which is funny you can't stop laughing.
Chinese has similar phrases as my mum says them, she also explains the meaning which helps.
Thanks Chimerastone, I never heard that one before :)
ReplyDeleteTake care.
