Sunday also started off rainy but turned out to be a sunny day.
Dinner was again a hodgepodge of salads, plus an avocado-maguro tower.
We also tried Westmalle Trappist's Tripel, a Belgium beer...628 yen (about US$6.28) for 330 ml.
This one had punch! 9.5% alcohol to be exact....a little bitter and cloudy with a little fruity aroma, but for me, more drinkable than the Orval.
At least when we went to Yamaya on Saturday they had more Wychwood's Black Wych beer, not at the great price I got it at the first time, but nice to know they still carry it.
Salads, a tuna avocado tower and beer--Sunday dinner doesn't get much better than that!
ReplyDeleteHi Kat - I'm still amazed that you don't seem to get jetlag!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debinhawaii, missing my family sunday gatherings :)
ReplyDeleteThanks KirkK, actually been waking up at about 5:00 am (12 noon Hawaii time) for the past couple of days....sigh.
Take care you two.
Kat
Glad you posted this because I had my eye on it...guess I won't be getting this one. We had the Orval again last night and I also picked up a note of spiciness - it bit! - but then I began to wonder if there are subtle differences to the beer depending on where/when you drink it, how long it's been sitting on the shelf, etc etc. Just as an example: Heineken tastes better here than they do in Hawaii (in Hawaii it's just water to me). The Asahi's just don't do it for me in Italy, but they taste fine in Hawaii!
ReplyDeleteI think you may be right Rowena, also I wonder if the foods you drink it with makes it tastes different too? I also wonder if some beers like Heineken are made in different parts of the world? Like the Heine you drink in Hawaii is made a different place from the one in Europe? That might also make a difference...hmmm.
ReplyDeleteTake care.

Yum! Tripel is great with a slice of orange (or just some of the peel given a little twist). Definitely not a beer for the lightweights! :)
ReplyDeleteooh, I will have to try that Biologie, sounds good :)
ReplyDeleteTake care.
