The other day in the garden, I noticed this...doesn't it look like asparagus?
It was actually the flower of the aloe plant.
Boy, what rock have I been living under? I've never noticed it before.
The shoot grows really tall then has these droopy flowers on them. The birds love the nectar.
Amazing when you take the time to see what is around you. Have a nice weekend.
wow, I didn't know aloe flowered that way! very interesting o.o
ReplyDeleteThe Aloe plant looks so vibrant and healthy!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen an aloe blossom--very cool.
ReplyDeleteWe had a huge aloe plant in our yard when I was growing up but I never noticed the flowers like that. Come to think of it, I never noticed the plant at all until I got some deep cuts on my leg one day and my mom told me to cut a stalk of the plant and rub the gel into my cuts. They healed so quickly and without scarring. Truly an awesome (and pretty) plant!
ReplyDeleteDon't feel bad, I never noticed that before too, and we had lots of aloe plants in our yard...have we been living under the same rock? lol.
ReplyDeleteI have the same plant at home. The shoot is as high as the roof :)

Wow, Kat. Your Aloe plant looks healthy and vibrant! You are really taking good care of them. Are you planning to make something out of aloe? I heard you can make a drink out of it.
ReplyDeleteI've eaten some in Japan Mikuru, but not here, these are plants in my parent's garden, I don't think they plan to eat these.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Kat
I've actually only seen the stalk/bud? part when there were flowers already on it, but at first I thought it was an asparagus!
ReplyDeleteRowena, neat yeah??
ReplyDeleteTake care.
