sai-nara

I recently found out that Wendy's is leaving Japan at the end of the year.

Amazingly, we have 3 shops in our area and I have only been here once.

This fast food place was one of the first places Satoshi and I ate at when we first moved to Minoo.

Nothing really fabulous that I would be able to tell you about 8 years later...

So the other week, in honor of their departure, we checked them out for our last time.

I had their bbq bacon burger...for me, I love anything with western barbeque sauce on it because it is so rare around these parts.

And look at the bacon s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g out of that burger! Though they could have made it a tad bit crispier.

We shared their chili cheese fries. I am glad I didn't run into this earlier, I may have become a regular customer because this combo surely soothes the goopy cheese and spicy chili cravings.

Satoshi had their bacon cheese burger and a cup of corn soup, though he was disappointed with his soup being lukewarm. (what else can you say about instant soup?)

Apparently Burger King came to Japan, left and came back...who knows, maybe Wendy's will too.

Until then "sai-nara" (good-bye in Kansai dialect)!

  2. It always surprises me that Wendy's isn't more popular in the US - I think they have the best fast food. It's really better than McD's for sure. I guess they don't have the name - and the momentum of notoriety or something...

  3. We don't have a Wendy's up where I am so this won't really affect me. I read it was because McDonalds has most of the burger business in Japan.

I'd like to have more choice for burgers than McD & Mosburgers!

  4. Wendy's....eek! What a flashback. When they opened for the first time on Kauai, I was hired and instead of working in the kitchen, had to put on Wendy's blue dress and red wig and stand out on the highway waving at the public! It was so HOT wearing that thing! I lasted only 2 days before quitting.

  5. That's too bad!! Oddly, Wendy's in Chiyoda-ku is the last meal Kelli & I ate in Japan! Hahah. Wendy's is my favorite fast food burger place that we have here in Hawaii. I was so disappointed when the old Chevron on the corner of Kilauea & Waialae Avenues didn't open up as a Wendy's like it was supposed to...

  6. I agree their chili is delicious Genki :)

I guess they don't have good toys in their kids meals Suburban ;)

I actually like MOS over McD's Helen :) but understand that we should have more choices.

Whoa! I can't imagine you with the red wig on Rowena, I would've quit that day!

Too bad about the place on Kilauea & Waialae Rick hope you can get your Wendy's fix elsewhere.

    Take care everyone!

  11. We gave in as well... and bought six.. stood in line for an hour on Thursday night.... We were staying in Mt. Fuji for the holiday.. so we had to search for the closest shop.

Had one for breakfast (got there at 9am) can you believe how crowded it was?? I can't...

So I am all burgered (that is not even a word but...)out.. no more burgers for me for a long time..
