very very

In Japan, you sometimes you run into very, very old matsu (pine) whose branches are being held up by "crutches" because their branches are very, very long.

Recently, we came across such a pine in Kyoto.

I've tried to piece my photos of it together. Hope you can get a feel for how long this one is.

  1. Wow! That is a wide pine. I've never seen anything with more than 1 crutch! Nice job with the panoramic stitching. ;)

  3. I like that the tree is propped up instead of trimmed to keep things simple. If I were a bird and "claimed" the whole thing as my own, that would be one big piece of property to spread the nest around.
