Some things I'm liking (and disliking)...when I bought this bento from Daiei, I thought the "meat" in it was pork or beef, well it was pork...liver.
It was my first time having pork liver and the texture was a bit too spongy for my liking.
Needless to say, I ate it up first then ate the rest of the items to "cleanse" my palate.
We received these arare (rice crackers) from my host-mom, they are made by Mochi-kichi in Fukuoka.
The arare is so crisp and airy!
I also love all the roasted beans and nuts scattered in each piece.
From the Donuts Dept. Oyuzu-han & Maple Sugar...oyuzu-han is a citron donut with a citron icing, this one packs a bright delicious punch.
The Maple Sugar was light in comparison but still very moist and delicious.
Robai, waxy apricot are blooming these days. I think Spring is coming...I hope it is...
I love the Pork and potatoes simmered in shoyu, sugar & mirin by Matsuoka.
The sauce is worth drizzling over rice!
Coconut M&Ms.
I must admit that I was skeptical, but my friend, BFF told me it was like eating Mounds...and it is, with a hard shell.
Plus, how cute are the palm tree and flowers??
Is there anything you are liking? disliking?
It's Friday, hope you have a great weekend.
Yum coconut M&M's..... I've got to find some.
ReplyDeletePork liver...wow Kat, I give you credit for finishing it at all. I can handle beef liver with onions but there has to be tons of rice. About the only liver-y food I don't mind is liver pate.
ReplyDeleteCoconut M&Ms got to try me some of them.
ReplyDeleteThings that I am liking are
Hida gyuu sushi
Niku-man
Pocky
Disliking
Chawanmushi
Oden
Coconut M&Ms? I wonder if that is a Japan-exclusive desert? These days, I'm really disliking the cold, and the fact that I can't go home, but I'm really enjoying the pretty snowfalls that they have here compared to those in my hometown. The snowflakes fall so gently, and so beautifully... when you look up at the sky, it seems like they are fluffy crystals suspended in mid-air.
ReplyDeleteI found mine at Longs, Kirk, hope you get a chance to try them.
ReplyDeleteRowena, I guess I should be thankful it wasn't thicker pieces, they were thinly sliced...blah! note to self: look carefully at the label before buying!!
I bought these in Hawaii J-A, not sure if you'll be able to get them in Japan or Australia.
Thanks Rissa, like I mentioned, I bought these M&Ms in Hawaii, not sure if you can find them where you are.
Take care everyone.

OK, that bento with pork liver would have been a disappointment. ;-) The coconut M&Ms are pretty good although I still like the pretzel ones better.
ReplyDeleteI just have to read the labels better Deb in hawaii!
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Kat
Can't handle liver so I bow down to you for eating it all! Just a FYI, no, you can't get the coconut M & M's here in Australia, I had mine sent to me from the USA. Kat, have you tried the Pretzel M & M's? I love them!
ReplyDeleteCherries are in season right now in Australia so I'm loving them since the season is so short and also local apricots.
Ate at an overpriced Japanese restaurant earlier this week, good but $8 for small bowl of edamame & $9 for 5 pieces of takoyaki made me gag!! Luckily I was with a group and we had the Entertainment card discount. LOL.
Thanks Michelle, yes I found my coconut M&Ms in Hawaii and also love the pretzel ones. In fact, I brought back a big back of pretzel, peanut and pb and mixed them together...love!
ReplyDeleteeek, overpriced food is always not fun.
Take care.
Kat
Kudos for finishing the liver, even if you don't like it. I happen to like it, but if it were beef liver I would have eaten around it.
ReplyDeleteNot a huge M&Ms fan, but have noticed all the new seasonal flavors...peppermint and cherry cordial at Christmas, etc. I'm with you on the Rittersport, though!
I think if Satoshi were eating with me Manju, I may have given the liver to him, but since I was eating this alone, I didn't feel right about throwing it out.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
