ad-lib

I don't know about you, but I am always using gadgets in different ways.

For example, my tomato knife which has a "hook" at the end is my cherry pitter.

Another is a tea strainer that was supposed to fit into my tea pot, didn't, so I use it whenever I wash rice or need to sprinkle or sift a small amount of dry ingredients.

The other day I made some dark chocolate and cherry clafoutis and was looking around for this previously mentioned tea strainer to sprinkle some powdered sugar.

But I couldn't find it.

I spotted my tea strainer for one and loaded some powdered sugar into it.

Shook it over the clafoutis...job well done.

Do you have multi-use gadgets in your kitchen too?

  1. I would have to say my peeler, I'm such a gadget girl, I love kitchen gadgets, but the one tool that I use for other purposes is a peeler. I use it to thinly slice cabbage for slaw, but it's pretty wide, about 8cm, I think. I use it for gobo,as well. I haven't creatively used a gadget meant for one purpose for another, but I think that's quite genius of you.

  2. You made dark chocolate and cherry clafoutis! I made cherry clafoutis today! But... I am not satisfied with the look (taste was good) so I'm going to make it again... Adding dark chocolate is totally my flavor. Delicious! Hmmm gadget... I can't think of it but I'm sure I'm taking short cuts. =P

  3. For the life of me I can't think of dual-purpose gadgets in my kitchen although I know I must do the same thing when the need arises.
