Kimbap is Korean-style sushi. I've been seeing it more and more around here.
The other night I picked this one up from Saraban which has a counter in the Daimaru Umeda department store...630 yen (about US$6.30 for about 1 roll).
A little pricey, some pieces were really thin.
This one was filled with bulgogi and veggies. It went nicely with a salad.
There is one at a convenience store I want to try too, hopefully I can get to it before they change their menu.
Have you tried kimbap before? What is your favorite fillings for it?
I don't think that I've tried Kimbap before. It does look a lot like a sushi roll.

Sorry for my ignorance...how is kimbap different from the more traditional sushi? It looks kinda like some of the sushi rolls I see at the convenience stores here in Hawaii.
ReplyDeleteIt is derived from Japanese rolled sushi J-A & thirtyseven. The variation I've tasted in Hawaii used sesame oil on the nori :)
ReplyDeleteTake care you two.

There's a tiny, tiny house on Keeaumoku called Family Sushi House that sells four varieties for only $3 a roll - beef, vegetable, kim chee or tuna/cheese.
ReplyDeleteWe have plenty of these rolls over here as Korean as well as Japanese restaurants are found in almost every corner.
ReplyDeleteIts not my fav as I prefer sashimi and tempura and once a while, the rolls.
Not sure if my comment went through earlier..wonky internet again. Interesting about the Hawaii version though!
