There is a company that has wine shops around Japan and overseas called Enoteca.
We have one in Osaka and they have a little cafe/bar towards the back of the shop.
I've always wanted to try their food, so one weekend, when Satoshi didn't have his language class, we went to check out their lunch menu.
I ordered the lasagna...1155 yen and Satoshi ordered the beef stew...945 yen
Both dishes came with some bread, a salad and a beverage.
You can choose a hot beverage like coffee or tea, soft drinks or wine. Since we were in a wine shop, Satoshi and I both chose red wine.
The wine they gave us was a 2010 Montes Merlot (Chile)...medium body and really nice for the dishes we chose.
My lasagna came screaming hot while Satoshi said his dish was kinda lukewarm.
He said it tasted good but wished it had been served a little hotter.
He did enjoy mopping up his stew and the end of my lasagna with the bread.
We want to try their pupus (appetizers) on their evening menu...we'll be back.

Seems like I've heard of an Enoteca in Seattle? I will have to check...
ReplyDeleteYum, lasagna would be good on a cold day like today here!
ReplyDeleteYum! I know I should be making erudite, clever comments on the wine, etc., but I'm focusing on the potato salad accenting the salad greens because I'm craving potato salad now.
ReplyDeleteI haven't said it in a while, Kat: Keep up the excellent, consistent work on your blog! I really appreciate your dedication and efforts!
I wonder if they are the same Kris?! That would be cool if they were.
ReplyDeleteHope you get something warm, K!
Lol Anon, hope you get some potato salad :)
Take care everyone.

Now I'm craving lasagna! Sorry Satoshi's stew wasn't hot...that happened to me with soup a week ago...and I should have sent it back but I was hungry :)
ReplyDeletewe rarely send anything back Lizzy, we should though :)
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Kat
Looks like a good deal and includes a class of wine :)
ReplyDeleteJapan Australia
Enoteca is a dangerous word for us, as we almost always leave the place with a bottle (or 2) in our hands. Oooh...which brings up a question. I know you only received glasses of wine but if you wanted to buy a bottle and weren't able to finish it all, do places in Japan allow you to bring the unfinished bottle home? We always ask first, pre-order, and so far have had no negative responses. They usually bring a plastic cork.
ReplyDeleteso true J-A!
ReplyDeleteWe've never gotten a bottle before Rowena, so I'm not sure what happens if we didn't finish it. Though knowing Satoshi he would finish it :)
Take care you two.
Kat
