hmm, how to describe it Kris, it is sweet and has the texture kinda like bosc pear but more syrupy. hope this helps & hope you get a chance to try it :)
Are we on the same wave length or what? I just picked up a crate of them (18 count) for 4.40€. Something like 1.38€/kilo. They're the kind that you have to eat when they're overripe though, and not the japanese ones that you can eat like an apple.

We love kaki, too! Sometimes it goes on sale down to $0.99/lb here !(Hawaii.)
ReplyDeleteThat is very reasonable Akiko :) I hope you get some soon too!

Hi Kat - The Missus prefers Hachiya, but they take so darn long to get soft!
ReplyDeleteKirk, I wonder if that is the variety that the Japanese dry?!

yeah, hachiya is what is used in Japan to dry. Also makes for great pudding.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rinshinomori, they never list the type of kaki in the markets, just where it is from, so I never know the difference :)
