52-chome Bakery is a teeny shop located in the heart of Tanimachi.
I think I heard about them from a story they ran on the news once.
Since I was in the area the other day, I stopped in to pick up a few items to try.
At the top of the photo is the fig & orange bread. Packed with figs, walnuts and orange peel, this was nice toasted with a little schmear of cream cheese.
On the bottom right is the tsubu anpan. The filling is made by a local wagashi (Japanese confectionary) maker, Isshin. (another place I want to try!)
The bottom left is their cinnamon nuts poire (pear)--brioche type bread topped with thinly sliced pear and topped with cinnamon coated nuts.
Satoshi and I shared these for breakfast...so good with coffee.
I'll be back!
