Recently Hanshin Department Store held a Shikoku Fair.
All sorts of foodie items from Kochi, Ehime, Tokushima & Kagawa prefectures.
I was hoping that Hakurakuten would be selling their sauce for their yakibuta tamago meshi bowls...and they were!
We had this for dinner one night...I gotta figure out how to make the yakibuta (roast pork) similar but this was still delicious!
I've started to get interested in the different kinds of shoyu and sauces since our Japan friends gave us some dashi shoyu and kaki shoyu several years ago. Then, in Sapporo we went to the Kikkoman factory which was pretty interesting. I also look for those bottles that have either a small stick of bonito or katsuo bushi, dried/fried garlic, chili, konbu and you add your own shoyu. I keep saying I'd copy that and give them as Christmas gifts, but never got around to it.
ReplyDeleteThis bottle looks delicious! Yakibuta sounds delicious! Fried egg sounds delicious!

V, I know it is not the same but there was a thing on tv recently where they sell dashi (with the whole fish in there) from a vending machine... here is a link (only in Japanese though), apparently the machines are around in Osaka, Tokyo and other big cities, maybe you could buy some on your next trip... http://dashidouraku.com/free/jidouhanbaiki (more stuff to add to your list!)
Take care everyone.
