The thing about living in a different part of Japan is that you get to see different varieties of fruits and veggies.
These cherry tomatoes were from Wakayama Prefecture and called Akatombo, super sweet!
Blueberries from Shizuoka Prefecture.
The berries were medium to small sized.
Tochiotome strawberries from Tochigi Prefecture.
These were so sweet and the hulls were thicker than the varieties we had in Osaka.
Looking forward to trying other varieties.
I love how fresh they look! I love Japan and envy that you get to live there : ).
ReplyDeletewere the tomatoes and strawberries premium priced? When I was in Tokyo in February, I was paying about $10 for a container of strawberries but they were worth it! I didn't buy tomatoes since my history with them aren't great and those amela rubins are expensive. Hoping tomatoes will be sweeter in Osaka in October, especially since you've mentioned other brands that I can look for.
ReplyDeleteLast year, Costco HI Kai had something called keiki toms grown in Kamuela that were so sweet. I'm hoping they have them again this year.

Thanks Susan, hope you can visit soon!
ReplyDeleteV, I usually never pay more than 500 yen. Also tomatoes are best during summer so you may not find good ones in October
Take care you two!
