Ever since we visited Kyu-Furukawa Garden and was disappointed with their roses, I looked online to see where else we might be able to see roses.
I soon came up with Yokohama English Garden.
From Yokohama station, they have a free shuttle bus to take you out to the garden.
The garden is located on the grounds of a housing park (a park where they show you model homes for purchase).
The admission for the garden varies on the time of year, the most expensive admission is during Spring.
We were definitely spoiled with Aramaki Rose Park, but were glad to be able to experience this garden.
Lunch was at Bura Bura, an abura soba shop.
Nothing fancy, but we enjoyed this, especially the ground shrimp added lots of flavor.
Afterwards, coffee and sweets (cheesecake & marron (chestnut) cake) at Drop Coffee.
Surprisingly Yokohama is quite close to where we live.
We may not go back to that garden, but we'll definitely be back to explore.

When I went with my cousin in February, we tried to walk from Yokohama Station to Chinatown. A guy in the restaurant where we ate lunch said it was only 40 minute walk. NOT!!! Especially when he tell us to go in the wrong direction. Couple of people we asked for directions laughed and said taxi is only 5 minutes, walk is 45 minutes (after walking for an hour). Rationale: it is nice to see the area as you're walking and walking and walking.
ReplyDeleteI think that lunch at a vegetarian type restaurant in Lucua(?) building was the best curry I ever ate! It came with steamed, fried and grilled veggies arranged on a a bed of mixed rice. Curry was on the side with slices of aburage to pour over. Also salad, and maybe okara. See how I can remember anything about food! :)

I think Lucua is Osaka V. But I agree walking does give you a different view than the view from a train or bus.
