namikaze

V arranged for us (Mich, Les, Jalna and I) to lunch at Namikaze.

the good: Instead of waiting around for your waiter, you could order and pay with the QR code that they give you when you enter the restaurant.

the bad: I felt this QR code system was kind of impersonal and that waitstaff do not need to be attentive to you, the diner.

For me, I choose to use my phone only with wi-fi, so I would need to see their paper menus and wait for the wait staff.

The noise level in this restaurant is high, so it wasn’t the best place to catch up with someone.

what we ate: Spicy Roasted Cauliflower and Broccolini (spicy black bean garlic glaze, chili crispies)

Marinated Eggplant (oroshi daikon, shiso, tentsuyu)

Summer Berry Salad (Hau'ula Greens, strawberries, blueberries, tomato, pickled beets, crispy quinoa, sweet land farms goat cheese, candied walnuts, ume dressing)

Charred Sake (spicy salmon, pickled vegetables, avocado, tobiko, sea asparagus, kabayaki, garlic aioli)

Da Cat! (shrimp tempura, creamy king crab and lobster, crushed avocado)

People's choice (our ginger fried chicken, okazuya style and fresh poke choise of house poke sauce) served with rice, potato salad and pickles

Toast: cured salmon, herbed boursin

Beer Batter Auction Fish, fries, house remoulade

It was nice to be able to taste all the different dishes and V was very generous to treat all of us.

Thank you V!
