So we rebooked Hatonosuso, which Satoshi said is hard hotel to get reservations for and made our "revenge trip".
We ended up at Hatonosu Kamameshi.
I chose the kinoko kamameshi set (mushroom rice) 1800 yen (tax included), and Satoshi chose the sansai (mountain greens rice) 1900 yen (tax included).
The tempura was a bit over coated and bland.
There was also a steaming bowl of mizutaki (chicken hot pot), a dish of konnyaku sashimi, even matcha pudding...I thought there was just too much food.
After lunch we walked around a bit and then went into Kikori Cafe Tokyo for some coffee and something sweet.Kikori in Japanese means lumberjack and the owner's father was a lumberjack back in the day.
The owner himself was quite handy and renovated the property that his cafe sits on, it was beautiful!
His father also collected antiques so you can enjoy looking at different things from the past.
Satoshi and I shared this gateau chocolat 400 yen (tax included), coffee was served in these large mugs 600 yen (tax included) each.
I guess I should have asked to have this heated up because it was hard.as.rock. coming out straight from the refridge.
Here is a little wooden figure that the owner built, he fills it with sunflower seeds for the birds. It was nice to just gaze out at the fall colors while listening to jazz.
Since there was a slight drizzle and not much else to see, we then went to the hotel and waited in the lobby for our check-in time.
Dinner was an assortment of Italian/Japanese dishes.
This area was so peaceful and relaxing.
Beautiful scenery.
