daigoji and zuishinin
On Friday, we went to Daigoji. The last time we visited this temple was last year after the cherry blossom season.
There were tons of people this time, definitely different from the last time we came here. Just to catch the shuttle took an hour and there were lots of tour buses too.
Although there were tons of people all trying to take photos, it was a beautiful day and we were glad that we got to walk through the tunnels of cherry blossoms.
From Daigoji, we caught the shuttle in the opposite direction to Zuishinin. This temple was where the beautiful poetess, Ono no Komachi spent her last days.
I just love Cherry Blossoms! Spring is here! Take care!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely one of the best parts of the season, Laura!

You know how something can be right in front of your face but you never see it? About a week ago I was looking out at the mountainside and noticed a lot of "white" trees dotted among the grays and browns and asked my husband if they were some sort of winter-type tree. He said, no, that they were cherry trees and only then did I notice the TONS of cherry trees that surround the neighborhood where I live. I love spring. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad everything is blooming now. Things were just starting to bloom when I was there. The few sakura trees were beautiful but I really liked the magnolia trees like the one you had in your previous post. We saw some really pretty ones in a garden we went to. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to see the cherry trees, Rowena! They brighten up our hillsides too, with pink fluffs.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was going to miss the blooms, Lori. A week before I came home, my husband said, "the sakura is blooming". I'm glad you saw many different flowers while you were in Japan!
Take care you two.

Nearly went to Mt. Daigo for a hike last week but decided to go on a inner-city hike instead. It was so warm I ended up wearing a t-shirt. If you're in Kyoto City during Sakura season then the canal walk just north of Imadegawa (west of Shirakawa) is a really good place to enjoy the sakura way from the crowds.
ReplyDeleteYour secret walk area sounds like the perfect place to get away from the crowds, Tamakikat! Thanks for sharing!
