ogurasanso & yamecha

In 2005, I wished that Ogurasanso would make my favorite chocolate covered kakinotane in dark chocolate. Three years later, my wish came true...

Omoisomeshi are spicy kakinotane rice crackers covered with high quality Belgium chocolate. This year, Ogurasanso came out with dark chocolate & matcha. (The original flavors are strawberry, milk chocolate & white chocolate.)

On a recent trip to the Ogurasanso shop in Takarazuka, I also picked up Kyonodaikoku which are a type of amanatto (ama means sweet and natto means fermented). These large black beans from Tanba (a city in Kyoto prefecture), are soaked in sugar water then dried (I think).

Both were a great snack and went nicely with a hot cup of yamecha. Yamecha is the name of Fukuoka's sencha (green tea).

p.s. today is the Honolulu Marathon in Hawaii...it is 10 years ago that I ran walked the Honolulu Marathon...boy, how time flies.

  3. yummy :)happy 10 year honolulu marathon anniversary Kat :). I was awaken by the sound of fireworks this morning announcing the start of the marathon, the weather was cool and not hot or rainy.

I made a mistake years ago and drove the route parallel to
the race and it took several miles before I found a turnaround to get back on track. I was surprised by the the walkers far outnumbered the runners ;)

    Take care.

  8. Hey Kat!
I was shopping at Ala Moana late this afternoon and spotted many people wearing the dark blue "I finished the 2008 Honolulu Marathon" shirts :) It was pouring last night and all of tonight - seems as if the skies cleared just for the duration of the marathon! How lucky! ^_^

    P.S.
Run or walk, it's super impressive that you did the marathon!!! :D

  11. Lori,
I think Wholesale has a chocolate covered arare if I'm not mistaken, or maybe I am confusing it with chocolate covered gummy bears...

    Take care.
