Yesterday, on my walk back from the grocery store, this tree caught my eye. The branch filled with cherry blossoms was stretching itself across the road.
I stood under it to snap this photo...this tree was huge! I think the branches were heavy too because I saw some poles that were being used to brace them up.
As I got closer to home, I noticed there was another cherry tree whose branch went all the way down toward the river.
The weather was overcast and was forecasted for rain. Did you know the weather people here can almost predict the time it will rain? These guys are almost never wrong too.
I'm glad I made it home before the rain (check out the black cloud I saw after lunch).
Ooo cherry trees~ i love weeping cherry trees best~ are they in peak now?
ReplyDeleteYes this is the season Hanami :)

Really something worth seeing
ReplyDeletethe best views of japan
LOoks like you guys are going to have choke cherries this season. Was it the same last year? It seems that for us I don't recall a lot of cherries in the store last year...I know that there was an extreme infestation of aphids, for which maybe that could have been the cause.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for our cherry tree to give us something!
Lucky you. The white tree looks awesome. The trees and blossoms over here still need their time to blossom out.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I have not been around for some time. :( I am back! :)
Hi Kat - Beautiful cherry blossoms.....sounds like the weather forecasters in Japan are much better than those in the US.
ReplyDeletedefinitely tom :)
ReplyDeleteactually most of these cherry trees do not give fruit Rowena (at least I've never seen fruit to be eaten from them)
welcome back beadexplorer :)
thank kirkk :)
take care everyone!

Absolutely beautiful photo! Thank you for sharing! Living near the Wash DC area, I should take advantage of the beautiful cherry blossom trees, but the crowds scare me off!
ReplyDeleteI can relate Lynne, that is one reason we stay away from the festivals in Japan, just too many people!
ReplyDeleteTake care.

Last Month I asked a person working in Japan when the cherry blossoms will be out because the trees are already in blossom near where I live and in my home city. They are mainly a scattered few not planted in row like in the Japan's park.
ReplyDeleteNormally come into Blossom in April. The weather was was warm now it's beginning to feel cold again. I have apple tree in my garden and still hasn't flowered but can see the buds.
Beautiful! I love cherry blossoms.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tree! I just came back from Tokyo where it was pretty cool...so not many trees were blooming yet. Most of the ones I saw were in Ueno Park. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is supposed to be April Chimerastone, but it depends on the temps. In March we had a warm spell so a lot of trees started to blossom then we had a cold snap so they stopped...weird weather!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely one of my favorite seasons Deb :)
Yes it is still very cool Lori, hopefully more trees will be able to hang on to their blooms, they predict rain today.
Take care everyone.
