Monday was so hot! and humid. I wondered what the temperature was.
Before I went out to do my daily grocery shopping, I vacuumed. Big mistake!
(I think there should be laws against vacuuming or ironing during these type of days.)
After vacuuming, I changed and put on some make-up (which immediately started running off my face while putting it on!)
Then I walked to the station. Even though I had my sun-blocking umbrella, it was still quite hot and humid with little to no breeze.
When I got on the train, I tried not to sit with my back up against the backrest for fear of a big wet spot on the back of my T-shirt when I got off.
After doing some grocery shopping, I also wondered what made me think I could walk from Ikeda station to home (about 30 minutes) in this sort of weather.
Luckily, along my route there was my favorite fast food place, MOS burger to cool down and get some lunch.
Since it is summer, they have started serving their Naan Taco.
It has been awhile since I've eaten them, the naan seemed thinner and crispier this time around (and the chips were not stale!). Also, the meat filling was curry flavored not taco.
I also enjoyed their Lassi, a yogurt based drink, very sweet and a little tart. It was a nice lunch and great way to cool down, even though I had to walk the rest of the way home afterwards.
p.s. today is Tanabata, I wonder if the two star lovers will meet? What will you wish for? I think I'll wish for tradewinds.
A curry taco, eh? Sounds interesting.....
ReplyDeleteI thought you were only 6 hours ahead of me...it's the 7th there already? I better go write my wishes and hang them on all the fruit trees (will get MotH involved in this). I just can't imagine that kind of heat...it must be making people go crazy!
ReplyDeleteThat naan taco sounds just about right for hot summer weather. (How did people survive summers past, without air conditioning?)
ReplyDeleteLeave it to the Japanese to come up with something bizarre but delicious, Kirk :)
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how many hours ahead/behind I am of everyone Rowena, I hope you have enough time to tie your wishes onto your tree :)
I always wonder the same thing Jude, but I have a feeling that it is WAY hotter now than it was 50 years ago...
Take care everyone!

Oooh, that sounds so good. When I was in Japan last I had one of their burgers with the bun made of rice. It was so good! btw I love your blog, I read it everyday :)

Hi, this is the first time I read this blog... Really interesting! I am Italian and I simply LOVE Japan. I like your posts about everyday life over there, it's my dream!
ReplyDeleteI went to Japan only once, in August 2008. Obviously Japan is amazing but summer weather is totally unbearable :/ mushiatsui
Bye! ^_^
Thanks for stopping by S! Yes summer is awful, even though I am from Hawaii the humidity in Japan is crazy! I hope you get a chance to come back to Japan soon! (hopefully in cooler months)
ReplyDeleteTake care.
