hirumeshiya

Up the street from Umeyashiki, is Oomorimachi.

We walked the shopping arcade and picked up lunch from Hirumeshiya, a spice curry shop.

Satoshi chose the lamb curry and veggie keema...1100 yen (tax included).

He said his curry was super spicy.

I tried the nori chicken curry...1100 yen (tax included).

When we first moved to Tokyo, we visited the Oomori Nori Museum , where for 300 years, nori farming used to be a booming business in Tokyo Bay until 1962.

The chicken curry is cooked with nori which gives it a black tinge to it.

To serve, they also included some pieces of nori.

The nori accented the curry and I enjoyed this.

There are other items on their menu that we want to try, so we'll be back whenever we are in the area.

  2. oooooh, I love that idea of nori in the curry. I've been obsessed over the S&B curry blocks ever since I found them at the super (they only had mild) and love it over rice and nothing else; gonna try adding nori next time.

    1. Rowena, I’ve only been using curry powder to cut out the gluten(flour) and fat that the blocks sometimes have:)

      Take care.
