some people don't like the fragrance of this but I love it.
found togan at the market and made a batch of pork togan
forgot to buy onion and put some renkon (lotus root) in instead
since the togan was pretty big, I put some of it into the freezer, so we can have this again when it gets really cold, or I can't figure out what to make for dinner...ha!
It's still pretty warm during the daytime, but the evenings and early mornings are pretty chilly.

I just made something similar with aidell's teriyaki chicken meatballs from Costco, also seen it at Safeway, and cook it with long squash so looks similar to togan. The southeast asians pick it really young so can eat the seeds too. I remember long ago, we used to let the squash get really big and long so the skin would be sooo hard to peel, and had to scoop out the seeds.

I remember picking osmanthus flowers from a tree by my uncle's house. We preserved the flowers, and added them to steamed glutinous rice cake for New Years. They have a wonderful fragrance sort of a cross between rose and jasmine.
