matsuzakaya

Recently tried Matsuzakaya

They are mainly a butcher shop and are also known for their roast pork and other foods

Apparently they have been in business for over 80 years.

We tried their sweet sour pork...932 yen (tax included) for 333 grams

This was delicious, not overly sweet with lots of tender pork pieces and veggies in it
and their koumiyaki (spice grilled) chicken...480 yen (tax included) for 5 wings

this was delicious too, not overly peppery, very meaty and tender

I'm glad we tried this place and I'll be back whenever I'm nearby

tabuchi

Went to check out Tabuchi which was featured on a tv show.

In business since 1955, this teeny shop sells different cuts of meat as well as all sorts of fried items.

Back in the day, their menchi katsu (fried hamburger) and croquettes were popular at the nearby Oi Racetrack.

I went when they had just opened, so they didn't have many fried items in the showcase

I purchased an American dog (corn dog)..90 yen (tax included), this wasn't too good, the sausage inside had a weird texture.

two ebi fry (fried shrimp)...160 yen (tax included) each...Satoshi said this was ono

And two tonkatsu...380 yen (tax included) each

Not sure what the blue ticket was for, but hope to go back to try other fried items like their chicken katsu

You should’ve seen the fry area, just tons of panko!

Overall, the breading was a little loose but we still enjoyed this

When I left, there was quite a line behind me.

I'll be back.
