city office

Yesterday I had to go to get some documents from our city office for Satoshi.

I don't go to this office too often, so I was surprised at some of the things they are doing to prevent virus contamination.

Like this cup of pens that had been sanitized.

To the left was a cup with red tape on it for pens that were used and needed to be sanitized (no photo).

In the elevator, they note where you can stand.

At least now there is a reason why you can't be packed like sardines in elevators and trains.

Changing the subject, it still surprises me how many people do not look down on the floors for these markers as to where to stand in stores.

Several times in a store I've turned around hoping that the person who is right behind me will get the hint that they should be "distancing".

At least most everyone here wears a mask.

It is still on a request basis but if you do choose not to wear one, the "mask police" will tell you so, be prepared to be yelled at by these people...

The temps have dropped quite a bit here, I need to look for my warm clothing...

Hope everyone is keeping zen, have a safe weekend everyone.

  1. there are a few places here that have those clean and used pen cups around.

I am getting a little better about spacing myself in line but still forget when I'm looking for something in the market and someone is standing right in front or blocking what I want. Too one track minded. But then again, I'm a tailgater too. How dare a car be in front of me when I'm trying to get somewhere.

My boss gave me a mask leash, like the kind people wear to keep their reading glasses around their neck, so that really helps me remember to wear my mask. I used to use pacifier clips, LOL.

So jealous that your temperatures are going down. We WOULD have been leaving for Osaka next Tuesday but....:(

Today is a little breezy but still warm. There is a fire on Waahila Ridge just by the UH faculty housing on Dole Street and behind EW Center. There is a homeless camp there in the brush so every so often there is a fire either accidental or not. The wind is blowing the smokey smell all down towards Ala Moana and even in town I can smell it.

  2. I really wish there was more signage encouraging social distancing. Some people just need a little direction and will happily comply. I went to Ala Moana Shopping Center today & the first escalator I saw was packed! Luckily, people were SD-ing on other escalators and generally around the mall. 🙂 Stay safe and warm, Kat!

  4. there is signage of where to stand at the supermarket, but people are less mindful of distance while doing the actual shopping. it wasn't so back when we were finally allowed to get out though. I remember 'doing the hula' with my shopping cart to avoid getting to close to other shoppers.
