Saturday, while I waited for Satoshi to finish his German class, I walked to Tenshinbashisuji and had my second breakfast at Hibiki Coffee.
A tiny shop with seats mainly at the counter (they also have a few tables) the owner brews everything after you order.
I ordered the "just brewed" iced coffee since he had noted on his menu that it was a stronger brew...550 yen.
Instead of adding ice to the coffee, he "chilled" it in a bowl over ice.
It was a good cup but I think it could've been a stronger brew.
I had also ordered toast...250 yen (since he didn't have salad that day, he minused 100 yen off...whoo!) I was surprised because it still came with some scrambled egg.
Next time, I'm trying the other iced coffee he has on his menu...500 yen, for comparison.
I'll be back.

happy camper bagel
Recently, we tried the bagel dog, which uses an Okinawan made sausage...nice snap!
And the onion cheese bagel, which was our fave because of the crispy cheese on top and sweet bits of onion worked into the dough.
This morning I had the chocolate bagel...with some cream cheese.
It is topped with some brown sugar (totally unnecessary!)
Toasted the chocolate chips get all melty, there are also some dried cranberries here and there.
Definitely a "happy camper"...

seiyosakan
Satoshi had the day off so we went to check out the Tenjinbashisuji shopping arcade.
This shopping arcade is one of the longest and if I'm not mistaken one of the oldest in Japan...2.6 kilometers (1.6 miles)
Lunch was at a retro coffee shop but the food was meh and so was the coffee, so I'd rather not post about it.
I will tell you about dessert though.
It was at a cozy shop called Seiyosakan.
Satoshi had their marron (chestnut) chiffon cake and I had their berry tarte.
Both were delicious!
I ordered tea with lemon and Satoshi had some coffee.
A bit pricey but they do give you a whole pot of tea.
We'll be back!

happy camper bagel
I had been buying bagels from Painduce, and then they stopped making them....boo!
I had also been buying bagels whenever I shopped at Seijo Ishii...
And then I found out about Happy Camper Bagel...don't you love the name?!
Apparently they've been around since 2013. Everyday they have 10-12 different flavors.
I bought 4 different ones to try.
Pecan cinnamon, this had a nice glaze and lots of pecan bits in the bagel.
Black bean & black sesame, the black beans are sweetened and are quite large, the beans were nicely distributed in the bagel.
Berry berry berry, this one was disappointing. With a name with that many berries in it you would imagine it having lots of different berries...nope I only noticed a few cranberries.
Fig & hazelnut, this bagel had large dried fig pieces in the bagel and just a sprinkle of thinly sliced hazelnuts on top.
I love the chewiness of these bagels and want to try some of the other flavors, I'll be back!
