okonomiyaki kiji
Today, I had lunch with my Aunty M1's friend, Kathy. She teaches English at Osaka Gakuin University. I had met her a couple of times before and it was nice to see her again. Although I just got back from Hawaii, it was nice to be able to chat in English! :)
We had lunch at an okonomiyaki place called Okonomiyaki Kiji. The restaurant is located in the basement area of the Umeda Sky Building. This place is popular and you usually have to wait for a table. All the walls have customer's pictures and meishi (business cards) stapled on. While you wait, they will usually take your order. This is so that when you table is ready, they can serve you your food pretty quickly. We ordered the modanyaki (okonomiyaki with yakisoba noodles inside) and the butatama (which is egg, pork and veggies cooked okonomiyaki style). The guy who cooked this was nice enough to split it into two for us. Everything tasted great!
Satoshi and I like this place because the basement area looks like an old Japanese village. Also, because this building is kind of out of the way, there aren't too many people. We've also taken my parents here the last time they came to visit us. This is definitely a great place for good okonomiyaki.
