The Royal Palace opened up a special area for the public to view Autumn Colors from November 30 until December 8.

Yesterday, I went to check it out

Luckily it wasn't crowded

In through the Sakashita Gate
You need to go through security.

If you have water, be prepared to drink a sip in front of security.

They will also look in your bag and metal detector wand you too.
I think this building  is where the Royal Family lives.
And this building is where housekeeping staff live?!
Since the viewing period was almost over, there weren't too many trees left to view with leaves on them, but the ones that still had leaves on them were beautiful
Just to be able to roam in an area where only the Royal family is usually allowed was a cool experience.

Out from the Inui Gate
I also went through the Eastern Garden...you need to go through security again, but not as strict...
I didn't know this but they have orchards in the Eastern Garden, which the Royal family started in 2008

There were an assortment of heirloom/rare kaki (persimmon) and citrus trees.
From there I went to the Marunouchi area.
So pretty.
I saw this huge Tiffany objet, online I saw that it lights up.
These roses were real!
I bought a pate de campagne sandwich from Viron for lunch, love their baguette…1800 yen (plus tax) (wow the price went up!)
And their kouign amann…520 yen (plus tax) (shared this with Satoshi)

It was a nice day to be out and about.

years ago, in order to visit the grounds of the Imperial Palace, we had to apply online and fill out a security questionnaire, submit ID, Passport, all kind contact info in japan and US. Had to keep in a tight group and if you even took steps out of the group, someone would come rushing up and ask you to get back in line. LOL
Then soon after, they loosened the restrictions and seemed way easier to gain access and visit.
