dream sho jet

Sunday, we went back to Juicy Burger, I tried their taco rice…850 yen (tax included)

I wish the cheese was melted but flavor wise loved this

Satoshi tried their loco moco…1100 yen (tax included)

Of course it did not pass the loco moco snob’s criteria, because it was a demiglace sauce and not brown gravy, but he said he still enjoyed this

After lunch we walked to Haneda Airport

We got to see Mount Fuji (points if you can see her)
And the Dream Sho Jet, a JAL plane that is wrapped with the baseball star’s face (FYI: Shohei Ohtani)
We went to have Blue Seal ice cream in Terminal 2

Satoshi had strawberry cheesecake, Kat had San Francisco chocolate mint…550 yen (tax included) for junior 2 scoop
We stumbled on a baseball goods shop, they had all the various Japanese baseball player’s goods, not only Shohei Ohtani’s
The tree was up
Pretty sugar art

Lots of people all around the airport

(indoor) sakura walk (haneda)

Wednesday was forecast for rain at about lunchtime...it actually started to rain earlier

I decided to check out the sakura display at Haneda airport.

By bus, what should have taken half an hour took me almost an hour to get there because of traffic

This beautiful sakura ikebana display was super impressive

Most of the other sakura around Terminal 3 was fake

This was a teeny but real ikebana display
Other fake displays at Haneda Airport Garden

Loved the walls inside the Hanayama Udon shop

Even though most of the displays were fake, it was nice to walk around Haneda and see some sakura.

juicy burger

Sunday, we walked down to Juicy Burger.

I always see this shop when I am on the bus to Haneda.

It isn't too close to where we live, in fact, to walk there took us a little over an hour.

The interior has a kinda American, skateboard, rap music vibe

How's that cabinet that looks like a big boom box or DJ turntable?!

Satoshi had their bacon egg...980 yen (tax included)

with a coffee...200 yen (tax included)

medium fries...300 yen (tax included)

He said he enjoyed this

I had their chili cheese...950 yen (tax included)

and a small ginger ale...200 yen (tax included)

The chili could have been spicier but I liked the beefy-ness of the patty.

The fries were delicious, crinkle cut

And the bun was delicious too, especially since they toast it.

I wouldn't mind trying their taco rice, Satoshi was also eyeing their loco moco.

Like I said, they aren't too close to where we live, but I think we'll be back.

14677

My aunty had told me about the Made in Hawaii Pop-up at Haneda Airport, so we went to check it out yesterday.

The line for Leonard's was krazy!
Apparently it started on 11/15, but there weren't too many things left.

From 11/25, they will move to Terminal 2 until 11/30.

Part of their sales will be given to help Maui.

Thanks Aunty for telling us about this.

Afterwards we went to check out Haneda Innovation City which just opened up, near Keikyu Tenkubashi Station.

(my photos uploaded wonky)

Lots of areas for meeting.

And lots of robots and other offices.

Lunch was at the food court, order with your smartphone and a robot brings out the food.

The kitchen wasn't too organized so Satoshi had finished his food before mine even came out.

I tried this spice curry from Shiva Curry Wara, super spicy with lots of chicken.

You can see Mount Fuji from deck facing Haneda Airport.
Not sure we'll be back here, but at least we checked it out.

Then we walked to Anamori Inari, thought I had wrote up on this shrine, but guess I didn't.

It is on the way to Haneda Airport on the Keikyu line.
I think this rock stairwell is new.
super long matsu (pine)
After grocery shopping, we stopped into Cafe Fuwari which opened up in our neighborhood this past summer?! (can't remember)

Dunno if that girl in the background was having a bad day, but she was the most unfriendliest person...shouldn't you at least be happy serving gelato?!

I tried their purple sweet potato gelato while Satoshi had their strawberry...900 yen (tax included) for the two.

Satoshi's tasted better, you could hardly tell mine was sweet potato.

Dunno if we'll be back but glad we got to try them.

haneda

We didn't know what to do with ourselves on Monday, which was a holiday (Keiro no Hi).

So we went to hangout at Haneda Airport, since it is nearby and they recently opened Terminal 2 to International flights.

They were having some type of event with Lego...

Lots of people needed to go places.
New (to me) vending machines

Satoshi and I shared this yakiimo (roasted sweet potato) soft serve from Mangando.
More new (to me) vending machines)

And I was intrigued by all these people standing in line waiting to repack their souvenirs...

haneda

Satoshi has a tour assignment soon so he wanted to scope out Haneda airport.

First we had lunch at Terminal 1 at Tenho, a tiny ramen shop in business since 1993.

We found out about this place when it was featured on a tv show.

It’s a gem so not many want to tell you about it.

Their popular item is the Tenho men. Shoyu based ramen topped with veggies, seafood and a slurry.

Satoshi also ordered their half fried rice too…("A" set) 1150 yen (tax included)

I ordered the Canton yakisoba…980 yen (tax included) this is similar to the Tenho men except not served in broth.

I loved this, the noodles are a little crispy and the parts touching the sauce are chewy…kind of similar to cake noodles.

The little cup of soup was bland in comparison to the flavor of the noodles though

To get around Haneda, use the free shuttle buses, look for the yellow bus stops.

Next Terminal 2…I checked out all the vending machines while Satoshi went to check out the areas he wanted to

I was impressed there were so many dessert vending machines!

And even one selling PCR tests...4000 yen! and masks.

And then we shared junior scoops of Blue Seal ice cream…550 yen (tax included)

Mint Chocolate for me, Chocolate Cookie Swirl for Satoshi.

Lastly we went to Terminal 3

If you remember we were here a couple weeks ago.

While Satoshi went to check out things, I browsed

Hopefully Satoshi's tour will go smoothly.

haneda airport garden

Haneda Airport Garden was all set to open back in 2020 and then the pandemic hit...it finally got to open in January 2023 and we finally got to check it out this past Saturday.

Sensory overload wherever you walk with these huge screens

Souvenir shops from all over Japan.
Food shops from all over Japan too.
We tried an Osaka-style okonomiyaki place called Pachi Pachi.

The salad that comes with lunch, we think it was avocado mixed with potato salad because it tasted kinda like it but it looked gross

photo uploaded wonky...there was samurai armour in front of the Hotel Villa Fontaine
Daily okonomiyaki, beef tendon...1500 yen (tax included)

Was kinda small and thin, not fluffy like okonomiyaki we've had in the past

Our lunches also came with a cup of miso soup (no photo)

Yakisoba set....1300 yen (tax included)

The noodles were a bit thick and the sauce was too sweet.

Very “loud” interior of Okonomiyaki Pachi Pachi

Kurazukuri Honpo had this huge sugar art display, the bird and flowers looked real!
Satoshi and I shared this matcha tea soda from Kimikura...700 yen (tax included)

They whisk the matcha before serving, so it takes some time.

The orange soda at the bottom mixed with the matcha was super refreshing.

If you'd like to see a short video of them pouring the matcha onto the soda, please look here.

I'm glad we got to check out this area and hope it will do well with all the tourists from overseas and other prefectures of Japan
