le petit bonheur

Been wanting to check out Le Petit Bonheur for some time now and finally got to do so on Friday.

I purchased the fruit tablet, pate de fruits & yuzugette (chocolate covered candied yuzu peel)

I love that the pate de fruits came with a flavor map to tell you what fruit flavors they were.

So delicious!

The fruit tablet was delicious as well.

I chose the tablet made from dark chocolate and it had different dried fruits on it.

The yuzugette was delicious too. Covered with dark chocolate!

The shop closes June to September, so I'm glad I got to try these.

I'll be back.

shiranui

Tried a new (to us) orange called Shiranui.

These were grown in Wakayama and look like the sumos or dekpon as they are called here in Japan.

When I picked them up at the supermarket, I was kind of leery as they didn't look to good, but they are super easy to peel and super sweet.

I'm glad we tried these and would pick up more the next time I see them.

sakura walk

Saturday, Satoshi had an online thingy with some tour guide friends, so I went to Umeyashiki to pick up our lunch.

Been watching this house because it has a huge sakura tree in their garden!

I’m glad I got to see it bloom.

The bakery I planned to pick up lunch from was not open, and the sign said they would be closed for awhile...hope the owners are okay...

So, I went a little further to Sakaeya Bakery.

Nearby is a park which we saw wisteria at last year.

Too early for wisteria, but, they had lots of sakura.

I hadn't realized that this park is called Former Nomigawa Green Space Park.
The park is at least a mile long (I think)
Loved the look of this house especially with all the plants.
Caught this one waiting for someone to let him in.
Crossing the tracks you could see some sakura...
This is the current Nomigawa.
Then after eating lunch, Satoshi and I went towards Tamagawa.

This is the view from the Tamagawadai Park.
Next door is the Tamagawa Sengen Shrine.

Cannot touch all the power stones now...pandemic protected.
View from the Shrine.
Tamagawa had tons of people.

Little uncomfortable for me to see these crowds.

But, you should’ve seen all the food & booze! was kind of like pre-pandemic…

27055...short video here.

ps this may the last sakura walk for the year, it rained all day Sunday and is forecast to rain all day today (Monday) too.

Hoping next year we all can travel.

it’s no joke

Guess who got a job?

He starts today.

It is totally different from what he used to do.

He said the company is in Kanagawa (luckily only 5 minutes by train) and has something to do with energy.

So weird because according to Satoshi, “early retirement” in Japan has the nuance that “the company “made you” quit”, which allowed him to collect unemployment benefits as long as you show proof of looking for a job.

Over the year, he had online interviews, as well as interviews in person, met with a work counselor and also went to the Hello Work (an organization that helps you find a job).

He realized how much his company had done for him over the years…paying various taxes (from his salary)..he had to pay these taxes monthly over the year.

Gonna miss my walking partner.

I’ll need to get into the groove of waking up early to make bento again.

Not looking forward to ironing.

I think he is looking forward to getting out of the house.

Pandemic case numbers going up again…

Have a safe weekend.

sakura walk

Satoshi had an errand to run so we met up at Nishimagome afterwards.

They have a sakura promenade which we've known about since we've moved here but have never checked out until today.

Pretty and reminded us of the street in Minoo that we used to check out during sakura season.
We picked up lunch at Super Kitamura and then hopped on a bus to Kanagawa prefecture.
I wanted to check out Minami Kawara Park.
How cute is this grandma with her pet turtle?!
So many people out and about.
And then we walked home.
Krazy art...
Neighborhood pocket park.
This photo was from Minami Kawara Park but got "lost" when I uploaded it.
The pretty season is almost over...

17588...the weather is kinda humid and overcast.

satoshi's videos

Here are Satoshi's videos...they are in German though.
He did these himself, impressive yeah?!
If you point the Google Translate's Camera at the video, it will translate from German to English while you watch it.
Enjoy!
