Last week, I had a little cream leftover, so I made a really small batch of fig scones, using the easy recipe I have and two dried mission figs.I forgot to add the sugar to the mixture, so I sprinkled some vanilla sugar on top instead.
It was delicious for breakfast!
With all the trauma from the week before, it was nice to see the mountains looking so autumn-y. With all the warm weather we've been having, the leaves took a l-o-n-g time to change color this year.

Mmm...scones. I've never tried fig scones...where do you get the figs? Or were they a present?
My favorite scones are plain ones topped with butter, strawberry jam and clotted cream.
Have you bought clotted cream here? I saw some the other day for around 300 yen a small pot. It was in Meidiya on Sanjyo (between Kawaramachi and Sanjo bridge in Kyoto).

Thanks Tamakikat, taking it day by day. I got the figs the last time I went home to Hawaii, they were dried.
I've never tried clotted cream, I'm sure it must taste delicious on scones.
I've been to that Meidiya, I could spend a LOT of time in there....

Finally catching up on all of my feeds, and I am glad to see that you are getting along (those Hello Kitty fishcakes!). I've been busy cleaning and organizing too, but only because the house really needed it. Plus with this unexpected nice weather, it's much more fun to be outside teasing Maddie in the lavender bush!
