mac

Mac, Maku-do, Mickey D's, whatever you call it the ones here just came out with the quarter pounder with cheese and the ginormous double quarter pounder with cheese.

I don't usually eat here but couldn't believe that it wasn't on the menu until this year and went to check it out...does it usually come with 2 slices of cheese? I was kind of peeved that the onions weren't diced, made it hard to eat (you can see it sticking out of the bun).

McDonald's also has an upscale shop called McCafe. The ones here only have soft serve and coffee.

We tried the chocolate dipped cone and a coffee flavored soft serve. The dipped cone reminded me of Dairy Queen, but bigger.

A friend on Flickr who lives in France, posted the macaron that she got at her McCafe...I'm totally jealous.

Do you have a McCafe where you live? What special things do they have there?

I have yet to go to a McCafe here. I love dip top cones though-they remind me of childhood. When I was little, the county fair used to do one with an extra little tip and a cherry (ears and a nose) and called it a "black cat" and then one the same but dipped in coconut called a "shaggy dog". They were one of my favorite fair treats. ;-)

Hi Kat - Sometimes I miss the portuguese sausage and eggs we'd get from Mickey D's back home....not very good, but it sure hit the spot from time to time! Funny, when I used to eat at MacDonald's, I preferred the rehydrated onions used on the regular cheeseburgers than the diced stuff.

those sound so fancy Deb :)

I think the Mickey D's in Okinawa sell the spam eggs and rice plates, Kirkk, Satoshi was bummed the first time we went to McDonalds in Japan and couldn't order the portuguese eggs and rice plate.

Take care you two.

I don't believe we have McCafe here...and if we do eat at Mickey D's it's only about twice a year. All I know is that when MotH tried the spicy curly fries he was like....these are GREAT! They call 'em patatine vertigo (dizzy potatoes).

I try not to eat at McDonalds! The food they serve is not on my diet menu. I will go on a MC D run for the husband on occasion. He loves their food.

spicy curly fries sounds so good Rowena!

You are good to pick up some food for your husband, Lynne :)

Take care you two.

We don't eat at McDonald's regularly but when we need something quick on the road, we pick up Snack Wraps for the kids, which is chicken (grilled or fried), choice of sauce (honey mustard, BBQ Chipotle or ranch) and lettuce wrapped in a flour tortilla. They're not bad, although they have gotten skimpy with the lettuce. Must be the economy?

I also like the Egg McMuffin, which is just ham, egg, cheese and an english muffin. They're tasty and I had read a nutritional article that explained they were still a lot healthier than a lot of fast-food breakfasts out there.

I miss the McD in Hawaii, with their saimin, portuguese sausage and occasional specials like banana and taro pies.

Our local McD starting serving hot and cold espresso drinks but I haven't tried them.

Years ago my husband and I were in Paris and we peeked into a McD and were surprised to find two-tier pricing: It was more expensive if you ate there and less if you did take-out. I thought it was a clever way to limit seating capacity. Not sure if they still do that.

I read that about the Egg McMuffin too Jenster. I think most places in Paris are that way about their seating.

Take care.

I haven't seen the spam and eggs here in Okinawa.

Egg McMuffin is 220 yen, Sausage Egg McMuffin is 230 yen.

I am still jealous by your McCafe macaron, Geni :)

Wow expensive for the egg mcmuffin and sausage one, Nate. I wonder if I confused McDonalds with JEF?

Take care you two.
