OMG, that happened to me . . . ack, ack, ack. AND black mold. It appears everywhere that stays wet here . . . on faucets, on the ice dispenser on the fridge, on lids. So gross.
I use to use those silicone long straws that come with the insulated cups...and though I'd soak it in bleach every so often - the whole shebang - one day I looked into the straw against the light and noticed black gunk inside. EEK!!! It was FILLED with black gunk (mold???) and ever since I only use them briefly and toss 'em or use plastic disposable straws. Jalna mentioned those Japanese straw cleaners and so much gunk came out that's when I started tossing 'em. I did notice I use to get more tummy upsets and now I don't......N

Good lord....performing science experiments on one's self is definitely not the way to go!

ack ack is right Jalna! we got pink mold over here as well as the black kind too.
