goya

Do you remember I planted some goya (bittermelon), then accidently killed them when I was killing some aphids?

Well, I replanted them before going to Hawaii. I also made a make-shift trellis by tying some knots along several strings then hanging it from my laundry poles.

While I was gone, I asked Satoshi to lead the goya to climb up the rope...and came home to this.

As I was looking at the plant I noticed 3 teeny goya...hope they get bigger.

Gonna google to see how to take care of them (or if you know what I should do, write it in the comments)...so excited!

I don't have a green thumb but I believe talking to your plant like it's your friend will help. Just be sure no one is around so people wouldn't think you're crazy, LOL. Kidding.

hey kat
i asked my mum about taking care of goya(in vietnamese is called kho qua)since we have a ton growing in our yard she said to water it on a regular basis and dont over water them also leading them up the pole was a very good idea since they need lots of space to grow out...we recently harvested 10 goyas >.< sooo much foodie ideas...i really like bitter melon and egg omelet and since my father is cambodian we also use the leaves as a bitter soup....i'm not much of a fan but it's still pretty good

Mikuru,
I guess I could put one of those blue tooth devices in my ear and use my hands while I talk so that no one will think I am crazy...sigh.

Thank you so much Cam Tu, I will watch how much water I give them.

Thanks KirkK :)

Take care everyone!

Cute little babies--they grew a lot while you were gone! My thumb is totally brown so i won't even attempt to give advice. ;-)

Thanks Debinhawaii, I hope they get bigger and won't be like those teeny goya I ran into in Hawaii.

Take care.

I'm just jazzed that Satoshi took care of the plant while you were gone. I remember you mentionning something about saying "goodbye" to your plants whenever you leave...how nice that this time you can say hello!

Rowena, Satoshi taking care of the plants during the summer is a better chance that the plants won't die versus winter (he always waters too much!) I wished he would have vacuumed before I came home too but I guess I should just be happy that the plants didn't die :)

Take care.
