datemegane

(photo from the internet) I told you about the pin, and about their shoes...

Well, you'll see young girls/women here wearing big bulky glasses, without the actual lens in them called "datemegane" (dah-tay-may-gah-nay). (I've even seen guys wearing them too)

They apparently wear them because they supposedly make their faces look smaller...well, of course it would, the frames are so big and bulky anyone's face would look smaller.

Growing up, I must admit I used to envy those wearing glasses, because it looked different and "fun".

But now that I actually "need" to wear them, I wish I didn't have to...they fog up in the winter when you go from the cold places to warm. They hurt your ears when you wear them for too long, not to mention they leave marks on your face when the glasses sits on the bridge of your nose.

I think these girls are wearing these glasses for all the wrong reasons.

Oh and you may be wondering why they wear them without the lenses...it is so that they won't smash their long fake eyelashes...sigh!

It's Friday, it is also Setsubun, which I've written up here, have a nice weekend!

Some people do that in the UK too.. at least, there was a fashion for it a few years ago, not sure about recently. I haven't seen anyone do that in Japan though, maybe it hasn't come to Fukuoka yet.

But as a glasses wearer, it's impossible for me to understand. Even though I like my glasses (I actually think that I look a bit better with them on than off, although my husband disagrees), if I had perfect eyesight there is no way that I would wear them.

I wonder how many of the people wearing them wear contact lenses, because I bet some of them do.

I do not understand people that wear fake glasses. The same with fake eye lashes. I've been wearing glasses since I was 8 years old. I can tell you, I would rather have normal eyes.

Amazing what becomes a hit yah! I remember when Crocs first came out. I thought they were so ugly and wouldn't sell.

Haha! Japanese fashion/trends is always so interesting to me.

I wear contacts now, but I hated eating ramen with glasses on! haha.

I don't get any of those fads...but I did wear some pretty awful glasses in my 20's trying to be stylish!

That is so funny about the glasses! Glasses do change the way your face looks though so it makes sense! I hope you have a wonderful week and I look forward to reading your blog!
