natto

Have been trying to work natto into my diet, but cannot get past the stinkiness.

I think I found a brand from Gunma that isn't stinky.

I like that they just wrap it in a thick piece of paper, or maybe it is a thin piece of bamboo leaf...they also don't include any Japanese mustard or sauce, so you can control how you eat it and what you eat it with.

The other morning, I masked the natto with some kim chee, a little sesame oil and a little shoyu.

I know natto isn't everyone's "thing", but I think I'll be eating natto this way for now.

私も納豆の臭いがとても苦手です。
ほとんど食べたことがないですが、納豆は骨のためにも食べたほうがいいみたいですね。

I love natto. My mother liked it but my dad hated it. But I love it and could eat it all the time. It is an acquired taste, but you gotta like salty and funky flavors.

Hmmm, no smell huh? Maybe, just maybe I could give it a try, LOL...NOT! I think the sliminess gets to me too?

I'm probably in the minority; but I like the smell of natto. It always brings back "small kid time" memories for me.

i first learned to eat it as a natto omelette that a local style restaurant used to serve. Lots of ketchup and tabasco on the egg did wonders LOL.
I like the shiso flavored natto the best, but I think it has a lot of msg. I will try your style with kimchee. sounds good!

It's not healthier, but you might like it. I buy those already chopped up nato and add that wet nori in a bottle, an egg, the package mustard and some tsukemono and mix. So tasty. Much easier to eat. -lance

I've never tried natto, but have heard all the funky stuff about it.

I hope you find a type of natto that you can eat, Tomomi.

I guess I don't like all funky Alan...

lol Mich, a friend on Instagram said you should rinse the sliminess away :)

interesting Kirk :)

like kim chee, you shouldn't "cook" natto, V, you lose all the fermented goodness :)

Actually, Lance, a TV show here said that the chopped up version is healthier :)

Take care everyone!

Didn't know that, about cooking natto. Oh well, I just toast my pizzas just enough so the cheese melts. But if even that destroys the benefits, why bother, LOL.
That natto omelet seemed to be just a flat scrambled egg with natto folded into the middle so that might still be okay.

V, you could add it just before eating, though the natto would be cold & pizza hot

Take care.
