tonkatsu enraku

Saturday, we took out from Tonkatsu Enraku

In the past, we've eaten there one other time, but right now, they are only offering take out...so we picked up their katsudon.

Bummer that the egg has to be cooked all the way through for take out because the slightly runny egg is really good on this!

I also missed the extra sauce that they usually put on.

This still came with their tonjiru (pork soup) and pickles.

It was a little too much for me to eat, so Satoshi got all the leftovers.

We look forward to eating here, but for now, this was a nice tonkatsu fix.

Funny how people I know seem to all have the same craving for foods. Everyone made or bought curry last week. Then same for tonkatsu!. In fact, we were having a discussion over whether Tamafuji or Ginza Bairin is better:) I was hoping to try Ginza Bairin in Waikiki, even though I did when they used to be at the old Shirokiya. Can't remember that far back.

I've never been to Tamafuji, V, but have been to Ginza Bairin many times. Bairin has been in Waikiki for many years. I almost always get their katsu sandwich because I don't want to drink hot miso soup :)

Take care!

I've been craving katsu sandwich lately too.
Do you think Ginza Bairin is similar to either Katsukichi or Katsukura, or more higher end? Have you tried Wako? One of their branches is in Mark Shibuya if I recall correctly. Maude and I had to go their when she broke her foot since they had elevator access. A lof of my Hawaii friends used to go there before.

meant to tell you the egg is super runny on the katsudon at Katsuura, but never tried it as a take out.

Never tried Wako, V, not sure if Bairin resembles either Katsukura or Katsukichi. We've not eaten in Mark Shibuya (yet) it is a little far from where Satoshi has his class. We usually choose places inside Shibuya Hikarie.

Take care.

Glad you got your tonkatsu fix in Kat! Too bad about that egg though....

Kirk, I know the egg is usually cooked "better" when eating in, but understand that they need to cook it through in order to prevent spoilage with take out orders.

Take care :)
