sakura, sakura, sakura

Well, the dust cloud has lifted...yeah! The sun came out and called me out to play, so I decided to check out the sakura (cherry blossoms).

I first went up the street to an area called Asahigaoka, in this neighborhood everyone has a cherry tree planted in front of their house, so it is really nice at this time of year.

Then I walked down to Suigetsu Park, there were lots of people sitting on benches, having picnics, just enjoying the day.

After Suigetsu Park, I then walked to Satsukiyama Park, they had the place decorated with lanterns for yozakura (night viewing of cherry blossoms).

Then I caught the train to Takarazuka. There is an area called Hana no michi (Flower road).

Cherry blossoms aren't only on trees...there is also a plant called shibazakura (lawn cherry blossoms), these flowers are very pretty as ground cover and comes in pink, white and purple.

After all that walking, I worked up an appetite, so I stopped in for tea and scones at a tea shop called Sarah.

Whew! that was a LOT of walking, but worth every step. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

What a great walk (with photos to boot). I could almost feel the sun on my face. Now if only Mr. Sun would quit playing hide-and-seek in my neck of the woods. I've got tons of laundry that need to dry!

What a beautiful day it looked like in Osaka! Not like here, very cold winds, rain, cloudy all day and a drop from mid 70s last night to the high 50s today! Not your postcard day in Okinawa.

Thank you so much for sharing your great sakura photos. This is my first year missing out those beautiful flowers. I wish I was there with you. :)

I hate when I can't hang laundry outside. Although, my doorjams sure do come in handy, Rowena! Hope the sun will come out for you soon!

Ooh, that isn't very picturesque weather, Nate! Hope it warms up there.

Thank you Sue! I'm glad to be able to share this with you.

Take care everyone.

I love those cherry blossoms. It's been awhile since I've seen any of those delicate blossoms. Spring is here! Have fun!

How beautiful!

My parents have a cherry tree in the front garden...IIRC, it should be blossoming in the next couple of months...

At the risk of repeating everyone else, that is beautiful.

What a beautiful time of the year in Japan. I visted Tokyo for a wedding in spring 1991 and near my hotel the streets were like snow from the falling blossoms.

Thanks Laura, Alan and Barbara! I love this time of year.

Take care!

Yes Lydia it is one of the most beautiful areas in Japan. You should try visiting there before living there :) What part of Kyoto is he from?

Take care and thanks for stopping by.

A friend of mine lives in Asahigaoka and I was just there myself early last month. I even recognise the street (with the tomare letters) and Suigetsu Park! :D
