donuts dept

Yesterday, we woke up to a light dusting on the roof tops and flurries in the air.

While I was all excited, Satoshi crawled deeper in bed and pulled the covers over his head.

Of course, he had to go to work, so he had to go out while the flurries were still dancing around.

Me, on the other hand, I debated as to what to do with my day.

The sun was out, the flurries had stopped but the air was dry and icy.

I thought to myself, I could stay in my pajamas and stay indoors all day in front of the computer...

Instead, I changed my clothes and walked to get some doughnuts from Donuts Dept.

Lucky for me, they had a new one called Ichigo Mountain (Strawberry Mountain).

Delicious plain donut topped with a strawberry glaze and half a strawberry which is then dusted with powdered sugar.

Delish!

I also tried their matcha (green tea) and sugar doughnuts.

The matcha is subtle, but delicious.

And the sugar was different from the granulated sugar that normally is on doughnuts. This one seemed grainy yet powdery.

I really like these doughnuts, they never leave an oily feel in your mouth and are always tasty.

Satoshi says his favorite was the Ichigo Mountain, 2nd was the Matcha.

Great looking donut!! A work of art. I have never heard of Donut Dept. Is it a chain store in Japan. We always would visit Mr. Donuts or Krispy Kreme when we could find it.

That strawberry doughnut looks SO GOOD!

definitely not a chain J-A, which is why I like them, a little more pricey than the chains but quality a little higher :)

I would definitely get this one again, Stephanie :)

Take care you two.

The strawberry donut looks ono! I never did like pastry that leaves an oily feel in your mouth too. I always thought that Leonard's malasadas did that, and never did like it.

Just my luck that today we woke up to flurries and also a light dusting on the ground (weather man was totally wrong on this one), but there is not a donut shop for miles around. I thought about going into Milan but with the heavy pollution alerts (sigh)....blech!

yeah Jalna which is why I really like Champion, doesn't have that oily feel, you should try, maybe share with someone since you are on a diet :)

Pink does brighten things Deb in Hawaii :)

Boo for flurries Rowena, though I think we are getting some tomorrow (I'm secretly happy about our flurries). The weather dude says Feb 1 the temps will be in the teens...we'll see.

Take care everyone.
