I know this place is from America, and that we have one on Maui, but I'd never tried them before, so I was interested in what the hype was all about.
We went early in the morning, before most people line up to buy boxes and boxes of these doughnuts.
I chose caramel walnuts and chocolate iced with sprinkles.
Satoshi chose chocolate iced custard filled and creamy cheese.
The creamy cheese had a marscapone cheese filling, it was also topped with some cream cheese & parmesan cheese...this one was tart almost like yogurt.
The icing is way too sweet too. I'm glad we tried them but don't think I would go back.
From Shinsaibashi we decided to walk back to Umeda and came upon an interesting light post which looked like a stick figure.
There were several in this area.
We also saw the new EV Taxi. EV stands for Electric Vehicle, apparently there are 50 of these running around Osaka.
Satoshi had to visit the dentist later in the day, so we decided to have a quick lunch. Since we were both in the mood for curry we decided to stop in at Tokumasa.
I had the cheese curry donburi while Satoshi chose their tsukemen. Tsukemen is where the soup/curry is served on the side and you dip your noodles in to eat.
We picked up their roast chicken sandwich, smoked salmon sandwich, an olive bread (the crescent), baked curry bread, pumpkin brioche (filled with pumpkin custard) & chocolate w/griotte cherry bread.
We tried them for our dinner along with some wine and a salad, everything was delicious.
Lots of eating, lots of walking though the weather was overcast and a little chilly.

Hey Kat - The Missus loves Krispy Kreme.... i think it's too sweet and tastes artificial. I have a funny story about KK. Once, a package of KK donuts fell behind one of our shelves and we forgot about it. Six months later I discovered the package and opened it up expecting that it had "grown hair"..... but those donuts looked perfect. I think that scared me more than if I had found a molding/decomposing donut! ;o)
Ok so the donuts weren't anything to write home about, but I *nom* you back...only thrice! Nom, nom, nom!
You have to try the original glazed doughnuts... that's what sets Krispy Kreme apart from the competition. It literally melts in your mouth. But it's so expensive in Japan. My bf was in tokyo working for the summer... and brought 2 boxes of glazed doughnuts from Krispie Kreme to share with the office... and it nearly cost him $40! In the states... it costs like... $10. Crazy!

Yes, the original glazed donuts that are still slightly warm are the best of the lot from Krispy Kreme. Unfortunately, Krispy Kreme started closing down in Australia due to lack of business!!

I am going to agree with the others--the original Krispy Kremes, while warm are pretty darn good. ;-)

Kat, I have to agree with everyone who said the original glazed donuts are the way to go at Krispy Kreme. If you get it hot, it practically melts in your mouth. If you buy a box and want heat them up, 8 seconds in a microwave usually does the trick.
At the U.S. Krispy Kremes, I don't even bother with the other donuts. I think they're good but not noteworthy. But that original glazed with a hot strong cup of coffee? Heavenly!
I've told Satoshi, Jenster, he says we'll go back for the "hot" ones :)
