itokito

After returning from Hawaii, I started watching a J-drama (soap opera).

The J-drama started in mid-July and was already heading toward the end.

The thing that caught my eye about this drama was that it was filmed around the area where we live (like at Honmonji).

Since the last episode is playing this week, I decided last week to check out the shopping arcade where it was filmed and it was a good thing I did because it looked like they were tearing down the set.

I found out afterwards, they were setting up to film, so the guy that I thought was tearing down the set was actually touching it up....

Anyway, near the set is a tiny bakery called Itokito.

They were so nice to let me in early (it was blazing hot and humid the day I went).

I bought their spicy chicken curry pan...filled with spicy chicken curry and sweet chutney.

Their roast pork with ratatouille sandwich in a delicious baguette.

The roast pork was super tender and seasoned well.

And their custard pudding.

The caramel on the bottom was slightly bitter, the custard was super eggy and creamy...loved it (so did Satoshi).

I'm glad I checked out this area and will be back to this bakery the next time I am nearby.

I was hoping to read at the end that you actually saw them filming (and all of a sudden McGarrett popped into my head) haha!

That's a fairly sizeable....at least quite long looking sandwich.
