keiro no hi

Today is the start of Silver Week and a national holiday, Keiro no Hi (Respect for Aged Day), similar to Grandparents Day.

I've shown you my grandparents in the past and wanted to share with you this photo of my great grandparents.

Am bummed that no one in my family knows where the original photo is (it was actually more like a ceramic thing that had their photo on it) nor what their names are.

Appreciating our grandparents, great grandparents for always watching over us.

We’re keeping safe and staying close to home, have a good week.

wow! that is so amazing that you have a photo of your great grandparents; I have never seen mine and I neither has my father (my grandpa left the philippines when he was something like 17) and never returned.

I only had a maternal great grandmother who lived to 92 and a maternal grandmother who lived to 99. I remember my great grandma, who died when I was a senior in high school. She was bent in half from osteoporosis. She used to make her own soba and udon. We used to love picking up the scraps and running them through the noodle maker. She also braided cloth remnants into long strands and sewed them into rugs.
